Move Over Avocado Toast – Celery is the Summer Toast Topper!!
Looking for a super simple recipe that combines sweet, salty, crunchy, creamy all in one? This Celery Toast recipe sounds really strange, but is incredibly delicious – and you can’t beat the simplicity!
The last couple of years, avocado toast has been a popular menu item at restaurants, and on healthy recipe websites. And it’s GOOD… like I’ve been eating it for 2 years and I’m not sick of it – that kind of good 🙂
But I decided to try something completely new, from a random recipe that I found on bonappetit.com. I like to find interesting looking recipes, and then modify them to make them healthier, easier, and more delicious. So here is one of the strangest, most delicious recipes yet – Celery Toast!
Recipe:
- 1 piece of sprouted grain bread, toasted
- 1 TBSP almond butter (or nut butter of your choice)
- 1 stalk of celery, thinly sliced
- 1 date, chopped
- drizzle of olive oil
- sprinkle of course sea salt (like Maldon)
Simply spread the nut butter on the toast, top with the celery and dates, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and enjoy!
I love how fresh and different this recipe is – what is your favorite ‘weird’ recipe? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!
WOW! It sounds delicious. Why didn’t I think of eating celery this way before.
Thanks, Hilda
