Wish that you could have more time in your life? The good news is that you can have more time – all it takes is a little bit of awareness … but first let’s start with a story ☺
What do clams in a bucket have to do with me?
I was walking down the beach and came across an old man collecting clams in a bucket. I noticed that one of the clams was trying to climb out of the bucket… I asked the old man if he wasn’t concerned that the clam would escape. He just laughed and told me to watch what would happen next. As the one clam tried to climb out of the bucket – the other clams in the bucket PULLED HIM BACK DOWN!! WOW!
Now think about this for a second – take a look at your social group – are you boosting each other up and supporting each other as you try to make changes in your life? Or are you like the bucket of clams, pulling each other down?
The 5 people test…
Take a look at the 5 people that you spend the most time with – it’s known that we are the sum of the 5 people we surround ourselves with the most. Interesting stuff!
Do you respect and admire those 5 people? Do they make you a better person? Do you make them a better person?
Let’s look at an example:
If fitness is a priority to you (like it is to me) – are you out every night at happy hour with friends, catching up over drinks? Or do you choose to spend time with people who encourage your fitness goals? Most of my friends know that if they want to spend time with me, we’ll be doing something active like hiking, walking, yoga… and then (maybe!) grabbing dinner or a drink – after all life is about balance right lol ☺
Think about what’s important to you in your life – if you feel like you never have time to go to the gym, can you combine some of your social time with fitness?
What about family – if you’re committed to family life, do you have a friend who also wants more family time? What about getting your families together and doing something fun all as a group?
